Kaltun Enerji hired YEO Teknoloji for its 44 MW wind power plant project in North Macedonia. The contractor will be responsible for all electrification and automation works at the Dren site.
Istanbul-based YEO Teknoloji said it won a contract for the design, engineering, procurement, assembly, testing, commissioning and all other electrification and automation works in a 44 MW wind park project near Gevgelija. It was hired by Kaltun Enerji, also a Turkish company.
The location is in North Macedonia, close to the border with Greece. The first phase is for seven turbines of 34 MW in total, while two more turbines of 5 MW each should be added later, according to project documentation.
North Macedonia’s state-owned power utility Elektrani na Severna Makedonija is working on a 50 MW wind project called Miravci in the same area.
Kaltun earlier said that the cooperation with PowerChina as an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor for Dren has been canceled.
According to YEO, the deal is worth EUR 6.45 million. The firm pointed out that it has 225 projects in over 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.
YEO recently filed in Turkey for preliminary licenses for 12 solar power projects of 503 MW in total, with 503 MWh in battery storage capacity. Last month it said its subsidiary Reap Battery would start producing batteries in Tuzla near Istanbul by the end of 2023. It revealed the ambition to reach 5 GWh in annual capacity within three years and keep expanding.
The USD 50 million investment includes a plan to open a lithium battery recycling facility in 2028, the announcement said.
